The Generation of Tomorrow

“Anyone can have a child and call themselves a parent. A real parent is someone who puts that child above their own selfish needs and wants.”

I love this quote, and this is something my parents have always said. I may not be a parent yet, but I do know good parenting is when you put your child first. That is how my parents treated my sister and me. My parents have shown us love and affection and have taught us how to be responsible adults and how to be moral human beings. However, I know there are some parents who do not feel this way. They put their own wants and needs over their children, and I feel so bad for them. I believe this teaches your children one of two things: (1) how to be selfish, or (2) how to put someone else’s needs over your own. I have observed both scenarios. They either want to be just like their parents or to break the cycle. This world has become so upside down when it comes to morals. We need to teach our children respect, integrity, love, kindness, and selflessness. We do this by treating each other with respect and dignity. Children learn by watching and modeling. If they see their father hurt their mother, they will learn to do the same. But if they see their father respect and show kindness to their mother, they will also learn to respect and to be kind.

We need to bring love, respect, and morals back into the home. This is the only way to bring up the generation of tomorrow.
