National Day of Prayer

Today is the National day of Prayer. It is held on the first Thursday of the month of May, and it is a very important day for the lives of all American citizens. It is a day for us to remember to pray for the welfare of America, her leaders, and the leader’s families.

As citizens, it is our duty to pray for our country; it is also commanded of us by the One who made the nations and appointed kings and leaders. This is stated in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”

God commands this so the leaders of our nation will do what is right for our country and for the people and what is good in the eyes of the Lord.

The Lord commanded, “Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.” Psalms 2:10-11

Let us come together and pray for our country, supporting her prosperity.
